Catching Fire; sequel to Hunger Games
I picked up Catching Fire at our local bookstore, then took it home to read. I made the mistake of bringing it to school so I could read it later in the day. Librarians are suckers for students who love to read (go figure!) and so when a student asked me if I had the sequel to Hunger Games, I could not tell a lie! So, just enough into the book to get me hooked, I have given it up for the greater good. Just so you know, I am also still waiting for Tricks to come back so I can read it, not to mention several other titles- I need to learn to put one aside for myself!!
If I Stay
A long road trip over Labor Day weekend, but still I procrastinated picking up a book. When I finally stopped daydreaming and picked up If I Stay, I was hooked immediately. A normal family outing, taking a road trip (nothing like reading a book about a drive gone wrong while you are on the highway with a bunch of crazy drivers!) when Mia loses her mother, father and little brother in a car accident that leaves her in a coma. Now she knows that she is in control and she is the one who must decide whether she should live or die. Short and bittersweet, this is a read for anyone, be you a teen or an adult, with thought-provoking issues. What would you choose?
