Wow! I finished the book and with apologies to the author, I spelled his name wrong. It is Cory Doctorow.
The book was captivating and high students will love it. There is lots of information about computer hacking in the back of the book and explanations about why hacking is not always a bad thing. Compelling, exciting, fearful, and so much more. You will pick it up and you will NOT want to put it down. Hope you can find it and give it a shot.

I'm reading
Big Brother by Cory Docterow. One of my wonderful student aides read it and raved about it. Even though I am not as technologically savvy as he is, the book is amazing. A high school student named Marcus is involved in computer warfare with the government in San Francisco because the government is taking away student rights, and has killed his best friend Darryl. He causes all sorts of havoc in the name of freedom. I am not finished with the book yet, but Marcus refers to the history of computers used during WWII, making the book appeal not only to teens but older adults as well. Highly recommended!!
(try finding it at a bookstore- it is not as easy as you might think. Big Brother is watching!!)
